East Africa & Rhodesia - 1/12/55 - Mr R.A. Thompson, who has died in Nairobi at the age of 74, served in the German East Africa campaign of the 1914-18 war and then entered the Colonial Service in Tanganyika, retiring in 1933 as a provincial commissioner. He went to Nyeri to live, and was later elected president of the local club. As a young man he had served through the South African war and then in Rhodesia in the B.S.A. Police.
