General Information:
East Africa & Rhodesia - 24/1/52 - Mr Richard Gray, who is on leave pending retirement from the ofice of superintendent of the East African branches of the Standard Bank of South Africa, has been in its service in East Africa for almost 32 years. For 5 of them he was manager in Nairobi, until in 1942 he succeeded the late J.B. Park as superintendent. Joining the Royal Scots on the outbreak of war in 1914, he went to France with the 7th Division in November of that year, and in the following June transferred to the 51st Highland Division, with which he remained until 1918. He was twice mentioned in despatches and wounded. An ardent angler and keen golfer, he is, I think, the only man who holds life membership of the Royal Nairobi Golf Club, Karen Country Club, and the Nakuru Golf Club.
