Tim le Riche and his brother Frank had a tobacco farm in Rhodesia, which they sold in 1930. Frank returned to England. Tim and his wife Phyllis went to Kenya to join her brother Ken. Tim taught at Nakuru Primary School for some years, then took long leave and went to England for further study. When he returned to Kenya he became Inspector of African Schools.
