Habari 16 - Njoro - Charles Black …. Left this station to join the Royal Air Force in which he had a notable career and in which he won the DFC. 
After the war, Charles returned to Kenya, married Dawn Doré, and joined British Overseas Airways, as one of their first pilots in East Africa; was a founder pilot for East African Airways.
mini-Sitrep 46 He was not happy with commercial flying; felt he was just a glorified taxi driver and was very bored, so joined the Gourock Rope Company as their East African representative, remaining with them until his retirement thirty years later. Charles moved to South Africa where he farmed at Richmond, Natal. In 1987, he was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease, and moved to a retirement home in Margate, KwaZulu, Natal, where he passed away aged 82 in December 1999.
