General Information:

A very good cricketer, known as 'Ataboy' Edmunds (Take a catch - 'Ataboy!', Take a wicket - 'Ataboy'!).
Curtis - p. 115 - 'Bailey Edmonds Carries His Bat' - Among a later generation of farmers at Turbo was Bailey Edmonds, a cricketer who had worked on the mines in South Africa. In addition to his Turbo farm he owned a small mine in Uganda. When he visited his Uganda mine he used to take with him some of the more capable men from his Kenya labour force. Since transporting workers like this from one country to another was an offence against the labour laws, he was told to stop it. When he ignored the warning he was taken to court and the magistrate imposed a heavy fine. Some time later the Turbo cricket side, which Edmonds captained, had a one-day fixture against Kitale. Bailey Edmonds was interested to find that the Kitale captain was none other than the magistrate who had heard his case. Neither man referred to their earlier meeting. Edmonds won the toss, chose to bat, and went in with his partner to open the innings. He was in form that day, and was still there at lunch time. His partners at the other end changed from time to time during the hot afternoon, but tea found Edmonds still at the crease and making runs. No declaration came. After tea Edmonds again batted on with his current partner and was still undefeated when stumps were drawn. As the players left the field Edmonds walked up to the Kitale captain. "Thank you for the game," he said. "I've enjoyed it very much".
