General Information:

Foster - as neither he nor his neighbours knew, at that stage, how to put up a roof, he followed the 80lb tent design with a centre ridge pole and two uprights. There was no glass for windows and no wood for - or carpenters to make - shutters; so medieval "arrow" slits let in the light and air, when the door - the top of a packing case - was shut. An alternative was to put wire netting over a larger opening. This let in more light and air and the wire netting was intended to keep out the lions and leopards.
Debrett - entered Hampshire Regt. 1883, ISC 1886, joined Indian Commissariat Depart. 1887, became Capt. 1894, Major 1901, Lieut.-Col. 1906, Brevet Col. 1910, Col. 1911, and Maj.-Gen- 1917; retired 1919; served with 1st Brig. of Hazara Field Force 1891 (medal with clasp), with Isazai Expedition 1892, with Waziristan Field Force 1894-5 (despatches, clasp, DSO), in France 1914-15, as Dep. Director of Supplies and Transport (despatches), and in EA as DA and QMG with rank of Brig.-Gen. (despatches, promoted Maj.-Gen., Legion of Honour, 2nd class Russian Order of St. Stanislaus with swords, Order of SS. Maurice and Lazarus of Italy, of Leopold of Belgium, and of White Eagle of Serbia, American DSM); was Director of Military Farms, Punjab 1899-1903; appointed AQMG for Supply, India 1905, Director of Farms, India 1906, and Col.
