Mike Holland - Newspaper article - The Foreign Office have received news that Captain Pennefather Holland, His Britannic Majesty's Consul at Maji, SW Abyssinia, died at Maji of fever on August 3. His mother Mrs M. Bunbury, of Belfield Park, Wyke Road has had telegrams from the Governors of Kenya Colony, Uganda and Soudan, and the Governor-General of Soudan, sympathising with her in her loss. Lord Passfield (Colonial Office), and Mr Henderson (Foreign Office) have written to say that by Captain Holland's death they have lost a very valuable officer who carried on his difficult and delicate task with skill and success, and that they had learned to rate very highly the value of his service. Capt. Holland comes from a very ancient family, members of which have given their services and their lives to their country. His grandmother, the only daughter of Sir John Delapore, of Shute House, Axminster, was a direct descendant of Margaret, Countess of Salisbury. His father the late Major William Tilston Holland, who died in 1918, was well-known in Weymouth in his youth. His stepfather is Col. H.P.V. Bunbury, late Royal Scots, and a nephew of the late Mr H. Palairet of Cattistock Lodge. Capt. Holland, who was 40 years of age, was educated at Sherborne School.
