Adventurers - 'A fine, blond Englishman, was the right man in the right place. His kindliness, tact and good sense became proverbial ....... retired on his well-earned pension....Remained in charge of Koba station during the whole of the time that I was in the Congo, turned out to be one of the finest fellows it has been my lot to meet in the whole of Africa. There was a pretty tough crowd up there at that period, but Mr Hannington could always keep them in hand and was liked by all.
