Gazette - 1-12-1899 - News has been received respecting the death of Mr C.L. Buckel, Veterinary Surgeon to the East Africa Protectorate on October 15 1899 on board the steamship 'Chindwara'.
The cause of death is given as primarily from failure of the heart's action and secondarily from abscess of the liver.
The Acting Commissioner expresses his deep regret at the loss the administration suffers through the death of this young and promising official, who was only 23 years of age and might have reasonably been expected to have a long and successful career in front of him.
