Gazette - 30/12/1925 - Obituary - His Excellency the Governor regrets to announce the death on December 20th 1925 at Mombasa of Mr G.W. Barnes, Sanitary Overseer in the Medical Department.
Mr Barnes entered the service of this Colony on the 18th June 1923 as Sanitary Overseer in charge of Mombasa Conservancy. Mr Barnes was a hard worker and carried out his duties in an able and efficient manner and he took great interest in the welfare of the large native staff under his control.
Mr Barnes also worked untiringly in connection with various charitable organisations in Mombasa and by his death a loss has been sustained which will be widely felt by his many friends both among his colleagues and among the general public of Mombasa.
