DSO - London Gazette - 22/3/18 - Awarded a Bar to the Distinguished Service Order - Clark, William Charles, DSO, Temporary Lieut.-Colonel, Royal Fusiliers. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. When he was the only commanding officer remaining in action in his brigade, he personally led forward the leading waves of the brigade in a most gallant and fearless manner. His personal conduct, coolness and example during the most critical moments secured the eventual success of the attack after a very stubborn fight. During the two days following the attack he rendered most valuable service in organizing the defence of the captured position, though frequently exposed to very heavy shell fire.
