Story on Ancestry Kenneth Thackeray Gooch was born on 10 March 1894 in Cardiff, Glamorgan, Wales as the fourth child of Charles Fulthorpe Gooch and Emma Susan Astwood. He had three brothers: Eric Daniel A, Charles Trevor, and Geoffrey Fulthorpe. The  Gooch Family lived in Kingsmead, Matfield, Kent, in 1911. In 1912 he enrolled in Pembroke College, Cambridge and in 1914 was shown as Staff Captain in the Royal Field Artillery (RFA).  At the end of 1914 he became a 2nd Lieutenant in the RFA. Geoffrey Fulthorpe Gooch, his older brother by a year, joined the Royal Garrison Artillery and was serving in 23 Siege Battery when he was killed in action on 19 September 1918 in Hargicourt Village. He is remembered with honour on Panel 3.Vis-en-Artois Memorial and the Matfield War Memorial. On 1 January 1918 Kenneth T Gooch was awarded the Military Cross in the New Year's Honours List. He transferred to 'L' Battery, Royal Horse Artillery in 29th Division as a T/Captain and continued to serve in the Royal Artillery after the war ended. On 2 November 1923 Kenneth T Gooch sailed from London to Kenya to become a farmer.  He died on 25 January 1948 in Mombasa, Kenya. When he was 53 years old.
