He arrived in EA on May 27, 1908, as Clerk to the Legislative and Executive Councils. Previously he was for three and a half years in the Cape Mounted Rifles. He holds the South African War medal, and 3 clasps. He is Hon. Treasurer to the Nairobi Golf Club.
