Tom Lawrence: Muriel Hope Atcherley married Dr. Henry Hemsted MD on 29th March 1911 at St Margaret, Westminster, Middlesex (he being of Purewell Hill, Christchurch, Hants). In 1912-13 she and her husband travelled to Kenya and in 1914 to Canada and the USA. In 1914 they moved to Cape Town where her husband joined the South African Medical Corps and they both joined the hospital ship Ebani, remaining with her after she was transferred to the RAMC in 1915, but later transferring to HMHS Neuralia. After the end of the WWI they emigrated once more and became coffee-planters at Chestnut Farm, Ngong in 1920 until they moved to Naivasha in the mid-1930s. After the death of Dr. Henry Hemsted on 15th Dec 1945 in Naivasha she returned to England and married again, Charles Edward Stuart-Prince (b. 1893). They went to Kenya once more but moved to South Africa in the early 1950s, where she and her husband became naturalised citizens in 1960. She died in 1978.
